CVS Savings 1/31/2011

I just got back from a fabulous trip to CVS, where I managed to get the following:

You see above:
(1) Snickers Peanut Butter   ($0.89)
(1) Dark Chocolate Snickers  ($0.89)
(9) Aussie Hair Sprays   ($4.99 x 9 = $44.91)
(1) Aussie Leave-In Conditioner  ($4.99)
(1) Dove Hair Spray   ($5.49)
(2) Caramels [used as a filler item... more on those later]  ($0.33 x 2 = $0.66)
(1) Physician's Formula Bronzer  ($11.99)
(4) Dove women's deodorants ($4.79 x 4 = $19.16)

Total before sales & coupons: $88.98
Amount Saved:  $80.48 (90.44% saved!)
Total OOP: $9.84

A big part of the out-of-pocket was tax, which explains the difference in the OOP and grand total before sales and coupons.  Also, for some reason, at one of the stores I go to, they don't always charge tax on every item.  I'm not exactly sure why they don't, because every other CVS does, but I think it's a glitch in their computer system.

Yes, that is correct, ladies and gentlemen. I managed to get all  of this [minus that sweet boy... I'm still paying for him] for the low, low price of $9.84.  You can do this, too!

How to Shop at Drugstores

Drugstores are a major source of AMAZING deals.  You just have to know how to work the deals, and you can save major money [and even MAKE money sometimes!].
There are three major drugstores in the Upstate: CVS, Rite Aid, & Walgreens.

CVS and Rite Aid are rather straightforward with their couponing policies and are also much more liberal with their policies.  I highly recommend that beginning couponers pick ONE store of either CVS or Rite Aid to begin their hobby.  After you are comfortable with one, go to the other, and if you ever feel brave enough, try Walgreens LAST. Remember, wherever you start, to start SMALL.  Don't get carried away!  All drugstores run sales cycles, just like grocery stores, and ANY deal WILL happen again!

Taste of Home or Disney Family Fun -- $2.99 Subscription!

Tanga is offering two awesome magazine subscriptions today for SUPER cheap!

Disney Family Fun is a really great magazine that offers tons of [cheap!] family fun ideas for toddlers and older.  I subscribed a while ago and have loved every single issue!  Some issues also have coupons in them. :]
Use code FUN at checkout to reduce price to $2.99!

Taste of Home magazine has been around for ages and is gaining popularity everyday.  I actually just used this link to buy my own subscription so I can check out the hype.  I love long bubble baths with a magazine.... and, if I don't like it in the end, I've wasted far more than $2.99 before, right? :]
